sign in with either a ‘Google’, ‘Facebook’ or ‘Twitter’ you already possess.
Note: Our preferred method of signing in to your ‘AddThis’ account is via email address and password.
Should you not be doing this at present and want to switch over, follow the steps in ‘Route 1: Social Sharing: Creating AddThis Account + AddThis Publisher ID’ (in the section above).
Once you have established what your ‘AddThis ID’ is, either through creating or accessing an ‘AddThis’ account as outlined in:
it is time to go on and enter both it (i.e. your ‘AddThis ID’) and its supporting information to ensure your ‘Social Sharing’ widget appears throughout your web pages (where applicable).
We have outlined 2 routes to achieving this and ensuring your ‘Social Sharing’ widget is permanently added to your website (up until you choose to alter or remove it, which we wouldn’t recommend).
To do this, go to the ‘Items’ area of the ‘SOCIAL SHARING’ subsection and click the ‘ADD SOCIAL SHARE ITEM’.
This is where you can select the ‘Social Media Platform’ whose brand icon you would like to appear on your ‘Social Sharing Widget’.
Simply, click on the ‘Dropdown Select Menu’ and choose the ‘Social Media Platform’ you want to add.
Note: We advise not having too many ‘Social Media Platforms’ and their brand icons appearing on your ‘Social Sharing Widget’. Aim to have either those social media platforms best suited to the content you share and the audience you’re chasing, or those which are popular with a large user base.
Any ‘Social Media Platforms’ not featured on your ‘Social Sharing Widget’ can still be accessed by viewers wanting to share your web page(s) via your widgets share button which opens up a complementary field with all sharable networks viewers can use.
Click the ‘ADD SOCIAL SHARE ITEM’ button to the bottom right of the ‘SOCIAL SHARING’ area, or
Hover over the row (item) of the ‘Social Media Platform’ you have already created, going over to its far-right and clicking the ‘+’ icon
When doing either of these actions, a new item (row) will appear, where you can repeat the instructions in step 8 (above) to add the brand icons of additional social media platforms.
Go to the ‘PUBLISH’ area of the ‘Social Sharing’ section and click the ‘UPDATE’ button, or
Go to the ‘Publish Bar’ towards the top of the ‘Social Sharing’ section and click the ‘UPDATE’ button which appears on it.
To do this, go to the ‘Items’ area of the ‘SOCIAL SHARING’ subsection and click the ‘ADD SOCIAL SHARE ITEM’.

You may find yourself having to remove one or more of the ‘Social Media Platforms’ whose brand icons appear on your ‘Social Sharing Widget’.
If you want to accomplish this, simply follow the steps we’ve laid out below.
With your ‘Social Sharing Widget’, the brand icons for the ‘Social Media Platforms’ you have decided to include on it will appear in the order they are listed in the ‘Social Sharing’ section of your website. Reordering their appearance takes a simple drag and drop movement, either up or down, to change the numbering (order) associated with the social media platform (items) related to this component.
Go through these steps to get your ‘Social Sharing Widget’ organised as you want.
Go to the ‘PUBLISH’ area of the ‘Social Sharing’ section and click the ‘UPDATE’ button, orGo to the ‘Publish Bar’ towards the top of the ‘Social Sharing’ section and click the ‘UPDATE’ button which appears on it.
Alongside this guide, you can use the ‘Quick Tour’ function for your ‘Social Sharing’ to get a step-by-step walkthrough of using this section of your website and its associated fields.
To do this, simply go to the top of your screen, and click the ‘Quick Tour’ icon to the top right of the page.Â
The ‘Quick Tour’ icon appears as follows:
On completing this action, our system will dim your screen, only highlighting the portion of the ‘Social Sharing’ in focus, with a detailed description of what’s in focus accompanied by ‘Next’ and ‘Back’ buttons (as well as an ‘Exit’ option) as you work your way through understanding this section in full.
When you follow the ‘Quick Tour’ through to its finality, our system will return you to your starting point with the option to complete the task (should you have not closed out the ‘Quick Tour’ before this step).
If you want a more in-depth understanding of your website’s ‘Social Sharing’ section and its associated [TABS], just go to the top right of the ‘Checklist’ section and click the ‘Help’ icon.
The ‘Help’ icon will appear as follows:
What you’ll also find when using our ‘Help’ section for the ‘Social Sharing’ section are individual ‘Quick Tour’ buttons (icons) for the [TABS], where you can get a step-by-step walkthrough of how to use the [TAB] in the spotlight.
We also have video walkthroughs that you can access via the ‘Help’ section by clicking the [ICON/BUTTON] to watch.
The ‘Video’ icon within the ‘Help’ section (for your ‘Social Sharing’) will appear as follows:
All the individual fields in your website’s ‘Social Sharing’ section are accompanied by ‘Tooltips’.
‘Tooltips’ are icons that appear next to the field title as an encircled ‘?’.
When you hover over a ‘Tooltip’, it will give a detailed description of what action you need to carry out to populate (or activate) the field itself. Following the given instruction will ensure the value you input appears on the front-end (i.e. customer visible section) web page(s) of your website.
